Japanese golfclubs Zodia CG collection II wedge review
Zodia CG Collection Ⅱ Wedge Review
I recently tested out this golf club.
The tested club was the Zodia CG Collection Ⅱ Wedge.
The shaft is the N.S.PRO MODUS3 WEDGE105.
The loft is 58 degrees, the club length is 35 inches, the shaft flex is S, the kickpoint is mid, the balance is D0.9, and the total club weight is 449g.
This is a Zodia wedge.
Since the first time I tested it, Zodia has become synonymous with wedges for me. This is quite different from the SV-W101.
It is a simple, orthodox wedge.
Recently, wedges with a tapered top line have become more common, but this wedge maintains a consistent thickness.
However, I must admit that I wasn’t fond of the back face design. It looks cheap and lacks aesthetic appeal.
I may have unconsciously compared it to the previous models which I loved so much, but even without that comparison, I still wasn’t fond of it.
Though my opinion hasn’t reached the point of disliking it, I wasn’t as excited about it before testing it. I prefer older models like this one.
The shape is simple and flat, which I quite liked.
The top line seemed a little thick, but it didn’t seem to be a problem.
The curve of the back face is beautifully smooth, creating a pleasing aesthetic.
The sole width is standard and remains straight from toe to heel, without any tapering.
I feel that this type is becoming more common recently.
From this angle, you can clearly see how much the leading edge has been shaved.
The sole is gently rounded.
The leading edge is significantly shaved.
This is more of a shallow, wide cut than a deep one.
It’s shaved quite deeply, giving me confidence when playing from a tough lie.
I believe many golfers will appreciate the aggressive shaving of the leading edge.
Compared to the leading edge, the trailing edge has only a small shave.
The neck is appropriately long and adds to the overall feel.
The Zodia original socket looks very stylish.
The face has fine milling.
This type of milling creates circular patterns, providing a nice grip with moderate friction.
The face has a great appearance, which was to be expected from a Zodia wedge.
Since my first test, I’ve been very impressed with Zodia wedges, and much of that comes down to how great they look.
The setup with the ball in front of me is simply excellent.
When wedges are too large, they tend to lose their precise image, but this wedge is compact enough that the size contrast with the ball is just perfect.
It gives the impression that the ball is large and almost “alive,” making me feel like I can maneuver it with ease.
The face is easy to open, which is a nice feature.
Performance Review
Feel: The feel is extremely soft and the ball sticks well to the face.
Spin: The spin performance is very high, allowing the ball to stop quickly.
Stability: While not as forgiving as the CGX-CB, I felt comfortable with it, and I could easily set my line without deviation.
Control: The control and image were great, especially when it comes to distance control and accuracy.
Final Thoughts
Overall, it’s a solid wedge with high spin performance and good usability, staying true to Zodia’s reputation.
However, I was disappointed by the back face design, which looked cheap.
Despite this, the wedge is very balanced, though I was not personally interested in buying it due to my preference for previous models.
I still find older models from Zodia to be far superior.
Overall, it’s a high-performance wedge with good balance but does not spark excitement for me personally.
