【Japanese golfclubs Test Review】PRGR 0 Wedge
Today, I had the chance to test this golf club.
The test club was the PRGR 0 Wedge.
The shaft was the SPEC STEEL III Ver.2 FOR WEDGE.
Loft: 56°, Length: 35 inches, Shaft Flex: S, Balance: D1.5, Total Weight: 450g.
This wedge features a beautiful cavity-back design by PRGR.
I had previously tested the PRGR 0 TOUR Wedge, and this new model seems to be its sister club.
A full cavity-back wedge.
While this design is common in irons, it’s still rare in wedges.
The first cavity-back wedge that comes to mind is Fourteen’s DJ-6, but this one has an even more prominent cavity section.
Cavity-back construction isn’t just about forgiveness—it also offers visual assurance at address.

Whereas hollow-back wedges may have a bulging profile, this one looks clean and sharp—very appealing and easy to handle.

Poor topline design can ruin the look and feel at address. But PRGR has nailed it.
The sole is wide and seems versatile.
It looks like it glides smoothly across the turf and shouldn’t dig—especially great for bunker shots.
Despite my usual hesitation with wide soles, this one feels different—in a good way.
The sole features a segmented or “mountain-shaped” design.
It has notable bounce, making it suitable for players who struggle in bunkers.
Rather than cutting through sand, it feels like it “bounces” off it—perfect for explosion shots.
The subtle curvature of the sole also allows for fine adjustments when opening the face.

The neck is slightly short for a SW, but if the concept is low center of gravity, then it makes sense.
It still falls within what I’d consider a standard design.

Feel: Pretty decent.
Not too firm, not too soft, but it does have the thin, slightly springy feel you’d expect from a cavity wedge.
Not my ideal feel, as I prefer the ball to stay on the face longer.

I’d consider adding lead tape to the back to adjust feel and trajectory.
Ball pickup is excellent and very easy.

Rather than picking the ball cleanly with the leading edge, I could let it slide a bit and still get great results.
