Metal Factory A9 -SKY- FW

Metal Factory A9 -SKY- FW Test Drive Review

METAL FACTORY A9 -SKY- FW
Recently, I tested this golf club.
The test club is the
METAL FACTORY A9 -SKY- FW 3-wood.

MURAKUMO -HAYATE- FW
The shaft is the MURAKUMO -HAYATE- FW, 3-wood model.

The specifications include: a loft of 15°, club length of 43 inches, shaft flex of S, shaft weight of 52g, torque of 5.5, kick point at mid-to-high, and a total club weight of 308g.

Front view
This fairway wood from METAL FACTORY strikes a balance between sleekness and user-friendliness.

Side view
The sole features multiple design elements, making this a “high-tech” fairway wood.
Any more additions might clutter the head and compromise its performance, but as it stands, the design feels balanced.

Weight
A large weight is placed on the sole, suggesting a deep center of gravity—common among modern clubs.
The number “05” is engraved, likely indicating 5g. I wonder if other weight options are available?

Sole grooves
The sole includes grooves or what could be described as steps.

Groove depth
The grooves are very shallow and might be better described as indentations.

Heel weight
A heel-side weight is also present, marked with “01,” likely denoting 1g.

Toe indent

Indents are noticeable on both the toe and heel. These might serve aerodynamic purposes, though I can’t confirm.

This design element was also present in a driver I tested previously.

Neck length
The neck is relatively short, which is standard these days.
No adjustment system is included.

Face design
The face design is simple and elegant.
While face designs have become more diverse recently, this clean look is often associated with athlete-oriented models.

Shallow profile
This shallow profile is familiar.

When I first saw this kind of thin design, I was unsure how well it would perform, but it has now become the norm.

Although I personally prefer deeper designs, the popularity of shallow profiles speaks to their widespread approval.

Head shape
The rounded head shape is noticeable.

While the extended back of the head stands out, it’s not an issue for me, as I’ve encountered similar designs before.

Although I prefer more compact heads, this shape may help many golfers visualize straighter shots.

Non-carbon crown
Carbon crowns are becoming more common, but this club doesn’t appear to have one.

Grip
The grip has a unique, individualistic design.

Grip

Grip design
Different areas feature distinct patterns, suggesting extensive research.

While golf clubs cater to right- or left-handed players, grips generally don’t.

Considering that right-handed players often grip the club with a gloved left hand and a bare right hand, dedicated right- or left-handed grip designs might be worth exploring.

Swing feel
Swinging the club felt great.

Despite being lightweight and slightly tip-active, I could quickly adjust my timing.

Address position
The address position feels decent.

The thin profile is noticeable, and the face appears slightly closed.

Testing Begins

Face feel
The feel at impact is soft and exceptional.

Sound at impact
The sound is crisp, neither too loud nor too high-pitched, leaving a favorable impression.

Toe view
The ball launches effortlessly.
Even with the 15° loft, it’s easy to get the ball airborne, likely thanks to the shallow profile and weighting.

Back view
Stability is excellent.
The club has a forgiving design with no harsh tendencies.

Distance performance
Distance performance is solid but not extraordinary.
It prioritizes ease of use, making it an “easy-to-fly” type of club.

Control
Control is decent.
Stability takes precedence, so it’s less of a club for shot shaping.

Post-Test Impressions

Heel view
A user-friendly 3-wood with great approachability.

METAL FACTORY A9 -SKY- FW
It feels packed with modern features, as expected of today’s clubs.

METAL FACTORY A9 -SKY- FW
While it’s easy to use, its rounded design also stands out.

METAL FACTORY A9 -SKY- FW
The overall balance is excellent, making it a standard-setting fairway wood for modern times.

I’m looking forward to seeing more from METAL FACTORY.

The combination of unique technology and sophisticated design achieves incredible distance and high launch angle.
The second shot is more strategic and leads to the green more reliably.

The appeal of A9 -SKY- FW

Amazing distance: The large cup face and high repulsion design significantly increase the initial speed of the ball.

Break the barrier of distance.
