EPON Shin Putter Review

Today, I tested this golf club.
The club I tested was the EPON Shin Putter.

The shaft is an Original Steel Shaft.
Loft: 2 degrees
Club Length: 34.25 inches
Total Weight: 567g

This EPON putter boasts exceptional quality and stunning aesthetics.
I’ve tested EPON clubs ranging from drivers to putters, and they’re all impeccably designed with no compromises.
Just holding an EPON club fills me with joy.

The i-33 I tested last year was a blade-style putter, but this one is an “L-neck mallet” design.
The L-neck mallet combines the precision of a blade putter with the stability of a mallet, making it a “best of both worlds” option.
This shape has been popular for decades, adopted by numerous manufacturers, a testament to its widespread appeal.
I fondly recall using a similar design, my “magic putter,” which remains in my collection to this day.
The L-neck mallet’s design, reminiscent of an iron, allows for easier face rotation—a key characteristic of this style.

Being JAPAN FORGED, this putter promises exceptional feel.
Putters have traditionally been crafted from materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. While preferences vary, the appeal of forged craftsmanship is undeniable.

This putter features a flow neck design.
While blade-style putters often have crank necks, this flow neck offers a popular and user-friendly alternative.
For beginners, the shape and size of the putter head may be the primary focus, but neck design is equally crucial and influences the feel and fit of the club.
If you’re struggling with putting, consider exploring different neck designs to find one that suits you.

The sole is elegantly crafted.
While many modern putters integrate sole weights, this one does not. Instead, the engraving reads “FORGED × 5X MILLED,” hinting at its manufacturing process, likely indicating five milling passes.
Although the specifics remain unclear, it’s evident that meticulous craftsmanship went into its production.

The intricate milling on the face is a hallmark of EPON putters.
This detail, found in other premium putter brands as well, contributes to its striking aesthetics.

The EPON logo on the heel adds a touch of elegance, delighting EPON enthusiasts.

The grip is a simple yet stylish original design, bearing the EPON logo, which further motivates me.

The putter offers an exceptional setup experience.
Unlike large neo-mallet putters, which promote a straight-back, straight-through stroke with zero face rotation, this putter facilitates face rotation naturally.
Preferences vary, and there isn’t a single “right” approach, but I’ve always favored this style.
Although I primarily use blade-style putters nowadays, I find this L-neck mallet’s flow neck design more intuitive and easier to use compared to crank necks.
The Testing Begins

The first thing I noticed was the exceptional roll quality.
Even on a slightly uneven practice green, the putter delivered smooth, consistent rolls.
The ball rolled steadily without losing momentum—a testament to its superior design.
The putter’s 2-degree loft likely contributes to this performance. While most putters have a loft of 3-4 degrees, the subtle difference here significantly impacts roll consistency.
Choosing a putter that matches your preferences and stroke style is essential, especially given today’s diverse market.

This putter combines stunning aesthetics with forgiveness.
Although it resembles an L-shaped putter, it offers more forgiveness and a larger sweet spot than traditional L-shaped designs.
It’s easy to align and performs well on off-center hits.

The exceptional roll quality allows for precise distance control.
However, some may find the roll so efficient that adjusting to the distance takes time.
This putter features a traditional weight, striking a balance that aids in controlling distance without requiring excessive effort.

The feel is incredibly soft.
Unlike resin-faced putters, which have a “soft” feel but lack feedback, this putter provides a distinct sense of the sweet spot.
The meticulously milled face seems to enhance its ability to grip the ball and deliver controlled rolls.

While oversized putters dominate the market, I prefer this classic design.
Its proportions make it easy to visualize both the line and roll of the ball.

The perfect weather and this excellent putter made for an enjoyable session. I ended up spending over two hours on the practice green without realizing it.

Stylish yet forgiving, with a soft feel and excellent roll quality, this putter reduces the impact of uneven greens.
Once again, I found myself succumbing to the “I want it” syndrome.
It was hard to stop testing, and I know this putter will be on my mind tonight, making it hard to sleep.
This is a putter I’d love to test again and seriously consider adding to my bag.
