EPON Sachi Putter Review
Recently, I tested this golf club.
The club I tested was the EPON Sachi Putter.
The shaft is an original steel shaft.
Loft: 3 degrees
Club Length: 34.25 inches
Total Club Weight: 556g
This is EPON’s new putter.
As I mentioned in my review of the Shin, EPON clubs are all beautifully crafted and of excellent quality.
EPON is one of the few brands that truly lets you appreciate the “material” of the club—whether it’s titanium, soft iron, or other metals—through its aesthetics.
Just seeing the phrase “EPON JAPAN FORGED” evokes a sense of luxury and gets me excited.
At first glance, the head looks like a traditional blade-style putter, but like the Shin, this model doesn’t have a crank neck.
If you prefer a crank-neck design, the i-33 might be a better choice.
As I’ve mentioned before, the neck design is a critical part of any putter.
With so many variations available today, experimenting to find the one that best suits you is an important first step to mastering putting.
The once-popular long-neck design is now restricted in competitive play due to new regulations.
While crank necks tend to have a higher center of gravity, this neck design gives the impression of a slightly lower center of gravity, which I found intriguing.
Modern putters often incorporate weighting systems.
While brands like Scotty Cameron and Odyssey place weights on the sole, this putter has weights integrated into the back face.
Placing weights on the toe and heel likely increases the moment of inertia, making the club more forgiving on mishits. Since the weights are in the back face, they might also contribute to a slightly deeper center of gravity compared to sole-integrated weights.
Toe Weights
Heel Weights
There are two weights each on the toe and heel sides.
I couldn’t see any weight markings, so they don’t appear to be interchangeable.
The sole is simple and finished with a mirror polish, perfect for checking bedhead in the reflection!
On the toe side, you’ll find the same “FORGED×5XMILLED” engraving as on the Shin model.
The heel side features the “Sachi” engraving.
It’s charming that both Shin and Sachi use Japanese words. While “Shin” means “truth,” I wonder if “Sachi” translates to “happiness.” Though I’m not entirely sure, it feels appropriate.
As with the Shin model, the face milling on this putter is breathtakingly beautiful.
The fine, intricate milling alone is enough to get me excited.
For any club—not just putters—beauty is essential. A club’s appearance contributes to the joy of the game.
This putter’s design is so satisfying that it’s worth admiring again and again.
Like the Shin, the EPON logo on the heel side is elegant and stylish.
Full-face milling, while common in putters, doesn’t bother me as it doesn’t disrupt the overall appearance during setup.
The face is clean and classic with no extreme design elements.
While it’s a blade putter, there’s something distinct about its look.
The grip, like the Shin, features the EPON logo and has a standard thickness.
While thick grips are becoming increasingly popular, this model sticks to a traditional design.
The putter sets up beautifully and naturally inspires confidence.
Both long and short putts feel intuitive with this club, as it provides a clear sense of line and distance.
Testing Results
The “feel” is incredibly soft.
It’s a metal softness distinct from resin-faced putters, offering a pure sensation at impact.
The crisp metallic sound of a perfectly struck putt is delightful and unique to this type of face.
The roll is exceptional, providing great consistency and a sense of mastery.
I believe the remarkable roll quality owes much to the beautifully crafted face milling.
This putter offers both style and forgiveness.
The weights on the toe and heel make it highly stable and forgiving on off-center hits.
Playing with this putter was so enjoyable that I lost track of time.
It’s a highly recommendable putter I’d love to test again and again.
