EPON Sachi & Shin Putter

EPON Sachi & Shin Putters
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

Recently, I compared two EPON putters.
The models I tested were the Sachi and Shin.

Sole Design
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

Both are exceptional putters, truly deserving of the title “masterpieces.” However, they are distinctly different in design and style.

Face View
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

Naturally, the faces are different, which might cater to varying personal preferences.
While the Sachi on the left is impressive, the Shin on the right, an L-shaped mallet, also has a very appealing design.

Perhaps we could call this an “EPON right angle.”
One essential feature in a putter is the sense of alignment provided by its angles, which both of these models deliver flawlessly.
Thanks to this precision, these putters allow the ball to roll smoothly along the intended line.
However, not all putters in the market offer perfect right angles. I once learned from a craftsman I know that some well-known manufacturers have inconsistent precision in their putter designs. While minor deviations might be unavoidable due to manufacturing, certain brands have significant inconsistencies, which is quite surprising.

The craftsman mentioned that changing production countries had caused the quality decline for one particular brand. This brand is famous among golfers, so the revelation was shocking.
Perfect alignment might not guarantee every putt will drop, and slightly off alignment might work well for some players due to individual putting styles. But as a product being sold, precision should be standard.
When I asked about EPON’s putters, I was assured their alignment was impeccable.

EPON Sachi & Shin Putters
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

These putters are a feast for the eyes.
I had previously tried both and fallen for their charm. Yet, seeing them again, I couldn’t help but admire their beauty.
When encountering beautiful clubs, I always feel that golf equipment is meant to be enjoyed visually before anything else.

Beautiful Face
<Top> Sachi <Bottom> Shin

The artistic craftsmanship of these faces is stunning, making me feel truly fortunate.
Simply looking at them stimulates the mind and inspires positive imagery.
A well-crafted club has the power to engage all five senses.

EPON Grip
<Top> Sachi <Bottom> Shin

Both putters feature simple grips with the EPON logo.
While some might find these traditional grips lacking compared to the wide variety available today, this classic design has been around for ages. Though these grips might wear down over time due to usage, they rarely become sticky, unlike some modern grips.

Odyssey Grip
Here is a grip from another brand. Initially, it performed well, but over time it became sticky, diminishing the overall feel.
While players should replace grips before they reach this state, many are reluctant to switch, especially if the grip still works for them.
Some might even hesitate to replace a grip because a change could throw off their putting.

Odyssey Grip
I personally prefer grips that feel dry and smooth rather than sticky or tacky.
Although some players prefer a tacky feel, I find a drier texture more appealing. Over the years, I’ve tried many grips and can now often predict how they’ll age.

Shin Address View
Sachi Address View
Despite being different in style, both are very easy to align and address.
The Shin on the right appears to have a deeper center of gravity, suggesting more stability.
Meanwhile, the Sachi on the left feels shallower, inspiring a different kind of control.
The Shin evokes an upward stroke, while the Sachi suits a more downward stroke.
I then compared their performance.

Face Feel
Both putters offer exceptional feel, making putting an absolute joy.
They deliver a soft sensation, and when struck on the sweet spot, it feels almost like “nothing,” allowing the soft metal’s quality to shine.
In terms of feel, both are equally excellent.

Back Face
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

Regarding “stability,” the Sachi slightly edges out, perhaps due to the weights placed in the toe and heel.
Without these weights, the deeper center of gravity in the Shin might have had the advantage.

Toe Comparison
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

For “roll quality,” both excel, but if I had to choose, I’d give a slight nod to the Sachi.

Heel Comparison
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

Both are so good that I feel no need to pick just one. Instead, alternating based on mood could be a great approach.
Using the Sachi most of the time, with occasional rounds featuring the Shin—or vice versa—sounds ideal.
Despite their differences, they share many similarities, offering great feel and roll quality.
These putters refine your senses, allowing players to elevate their skills with delicate touch.

EPON Sachi & Shin Putters
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

From drivers to putters, EPON consistently delivers excellent feel and outstanding craftsmanship.
These two putters are no exception, offering a visually and tactilely rewarding experience.

EPON Sachi & Shin Putters
<Left> Sachi <Right> Shin

Although both are highly tempting, if I had to choose just one, I’d go with the Shin on the right.
The joy of putting with these masterpieces made the time fly by.
