Japanese golfclubs EMILLID BAHAMA CVS UT Test Hit Review
Recently, I had the chance to test this golf club.
The club I tested is the EMILLID BAHAMA CVS UT.
The shaft is Vajule Ｄ series Wood.
With a loft of 22 degrees, a club length of 40 inches, a shaft flex of D03, shaft weight of 52.5g, balance of D0, torque of 5.7, and a mid-tip flex kick point, the total weight of the club is 346g.
This is a very stylish utility from EMILLID BAHAMA.
I previously tested a utility called the CV-8, and it looks quite similar to this one. Is it a minor update? Or perhaps there are significant improvements in places we can’t see?
Let’s take a closer look.
It’s a classic, traditional utility club.
However, the trend of ‘shallow’ utility clubs is becoming more prominent, and some might notice a certain ‘bulkiness’ in the design.
The black head really makes this lion emblem stand out. It’s hard not to smile when you see it.
It’s probably not just because my zodiac sign is Leo, but it certainly feels familiar and comforting.
There are three small weights placed near the face on the sole, similar to the CV-8. This setup seems to be the ideal balance for the design.
Weights are placed on the toe, heel, and back faces of the club. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the exact weight numbers, so I can’t confirm their specifics.
The neck length is well-balanced for the thick head design.
The neck features an adjustment system.
I tested the club in the ‘0’ position, which I believe is the neutral setting.
There are settings from 1 to 7, allowing for a wide range of adjustments. It’s interesting to see the differences in adjustment systems across brands.
This could be considered a ‘normal deep’ design, perhaps?
For those not accustomed to ‘shallow’ designs, this thicker head may feel a bit strange, but this was the standard design when utility clubs were first introduced.
Over time, the trend shifted towards thinner heads.
The thickness may be a matter of personal preference. Personally, I find ‘shallow’ designs a bit more challenging, so I appreciate the added thickness for comfort and security.
A slight mishit on the left-right axis can still be corrected easily, but when it comes to up-down mishits, the difference in ball trajectory is significant. That hasn’t changed over time.
The feel of a thin hit vs. a thick hit is different, and so is the ball flight.
However, if you’re used to it, the face feels easy to use vertically, and for those who hit down on the ball, you might agree with me here.
Shallow-faced clubs, on the other hand, are more difficult to handle, and while the ball will lift easily, the margin for error is quite small.
For players who hit level, this might not be an issue, but for those like me who tend to hit down, the added thickness is comforting and makes the club feel easier to handle.
While shallow heads are common today, the ‘pioneers’ of this style would likely be the ‘Titleist.’
I remember purchasing a Titleist utility (I think it was a 4-iron with a 16-degree loft) and struggling to control it. It felt like riding a bucking bronco—it was tough to master.
I later found comfort in the Big Bertha, which was much easier to handle and much more forgiving.
The face design is among the best I’ve seen in recent utility clubs.
It has a traditional ‘tawa’ shape, which reminds me of ‘inari sushi’… and now I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
There used to be more clubs with this type of thick face, but today, most have thinner faces.
The face seems to be slightly open, but it didn’t bother me too much.
It’s a typical ‘reverse-V’ shaped face.
Since carbon crowns are becoming more common, I checked closely to see if this club features one, but I didn’t see any carbon patterns, so it seems unlikely.
Looking at the face, it seems to have excellent rebound.
The texture is unique, which contributes to this impression.

Stability is excellent with this club.
It’s easy to hit a straight shot, and as long as you hit normally, the ball flight stays true. There was no sense of fussiness or difficulty in controlling the ball.
The stability was more along the lines of a large-size, shallow utility club, but it held its own and didn’t lose control at impact.
Distance performance is top-notch.
Among the utilities (hybrids) available today, this club is definitely in the top tier.
The face rebound is very strong, resulting in excellent power and distance.
With a slightly lower trajectory, the ball seems to carry more distance.
If you’re a hard hitter and looking for a utility club with great distance, this one will be a reliable partner.
This club also offers excellent operability with a quick response.
It’s stable, yet when you want to shape the shot intentionally, it reacts well to your commands.
It’s especially easy to handle for players who tend to hit fades, as the ball tends to stay on the intended line.
While you can make adjustments to the shot shape, the club doesn’t easily slice unless you’re really trying to cut the ball.
This is a classic, slightly larger utility design, which adds to its ease of use.
Post-Test Impressions
While some clubs today lean to one side, this one has a well-balanced design, which I find very appealing.
The club looks great, making it enjoyable to look at. But it’s not just about the aesthetics—its core performance is solid as well.
It satisfies the desire for a beautiful club, and for those who want something different from the standard, it offers a unique appeal.
If you’re someone who needs height from a utility club, this may not be the best fit.
While it requires a certain swing speed to get the ball up, if you can get it airborne, the distance performance is absolutely outstanding.
The club has a loft of 22 degrees, which is comparable to an 18 to 19-degree club (which would be the next higher loft), and that may align better with your expectations for ball height.
Top-level distance performance.

I had a great time testing this club, and I can already imagine how much fun I’d have with it in my bag.
