Recently, I had the opportunity to test the EPON EF-02D HT Driver.

The test club was the EPON EF-02D HT Driver.

The shaft was the DEAD OR ALIVE 亞 A45.

The loft is 12 degrees, the club length is 44.75 inches, the shaft flex is R, the shaft weight is 48g, the balance is C9, torque is 6.0, and the kick point is mid-flex. The total weight of the club is 298g.

The EPON EF-02D HT Driver exudes the luxury feel of EPON’s signature “blackened” finish.

I had previously tested the EPON EF-02D Driver, and it’s clear that the EF-02D HT is its sister model.

Even by just looking at it, the differences are hard to discern.

The large-sized head has a shallow look, but the shape remains intact, exuding a sense of luxury.

This excellent texture is what you’d expect from EPON, isn’t it?

If the texture wasn’t great, I’d feel less excited, but today, it’s all up!

As with the EPON EF-02D Driver, a key feature of this driver is, of course, the weight system.

There are two weights on both the heel and toe sides.

Since there are no numerical engravings, the exact weight is unknown.

The neck length is standard.

The neck is equipped with an adjustable system, and the same system was featured on the EPON EF-02D.

I tested it with the “7” position.

Other positions available are 1, 3, and 5.

The HT lettering indicates that this model is designed for high trajectories, which I learned from a colleague who mentioned that “HT” stands for “High Trajectory.”

The large grooves on the sole are another distinctive feature.

The groove depth remains unchanged.

The clean face design is also the same.

A well-formed, high-end shallow head.

The face impression remains the same.

It has a very gentle impression.

The carbon crown is the same, and I can’t find any differences.

Maybe everything other than the loft is identical.

A subtle crown mark.

As I mentioned before, wouldn’t it be better if this featured the EPON “e” mark?

The grip is non-slip and suitable for a driver.

So far, the common features of the head have stood out, but the swing feel is clearly different.

The shaft installed, 亞 A45 Flex-R by EPON, is undoubtedly light and responsive.

When setting up, I found it quite pleasing.

The rounded face gives it a friendly appearance.

The 12-degree loft doesn’t feel odd at all.

I think it’s because I’m used to seeing lofts around 12 degrees.

The face is nicely visible, and the ball seems easy to get airborne.

Its friendly look gives me confidence in the direction.

Test Hit Review

The impact feel is excellent. It’s firm but not hard, leaving a comfortable sensation.

The sound is crisp and refreshing, which feels really good.

It was easy to follow through with a satisfying release.

The ball got airborne very easily, and there was no toughness at all.

Given the 12-degree loft, it feels very close to a brassy in terms of launch angle.

Back in the persimmon days, 12-degree drivers were quite common, even mainstream.

As time passed, lofts have become steeper, with more one-digit lofts under 10 degrees.

This change is likely due to the shift from wood to metal materials.

The trajectory with this driver is high, but it’s not weak with an “up-and-done” ball flight.

The initial velocity is quick, and the ball has excellent carry.

It’s definitely a “high trajectory with power” kind of flight.

Stability is high, and there’s no sense of harshness at all.

This is a driver that delivers a consistent shot across the face, not just at a single point.

I sense that the sweet spot may cover about half of the face, largely thanks to the flatter loft.

Compared to other drivers that “lose power,” this one doesn’t, and it sends the ball flying powerfully.

Distance performance is impressive, and the potential is noticeable.

What’s amazing is that this big drive can be achieved with high consistency.

Since the trajectory is quite high, I feel it might fly even further if slightly lowered, but many golfers might prefer this high trajectory.

In terms of operability, it feels fairly standard.

The shaft is highly responsive, so I feel that you should avoid overdoing it with extreme movements.

The head also feels somewhat “automatic,” so it’s best to embrace these features.

Post-Test Impressions

There are many thoughtful features in the head, and it’s a high-function driver without sacrificing aesthetics.

In fact, it’s very luxurious and fulfills the desire for ownership.

While I tend to prefer simpler heads like the AF-106, those who enjoy drivers with multiple weights and adjustable systems will find this one particularly attractive.

It’s stylish, approachable, and fun to hit.

Some may think the 12-degree loft is too low, but after hitting it, I didn’t feel any negatives.

In fact, the height is just right… I think many golfers will feel the same way.

Looking at this trajectory, you realize how many 12-degree drivers have been sold with different loft designs over the years.

While some easy-going drivers might feel off in texture or feel, this driver is different.

It has excellent texture, great feel, and sound, making hitting it a truly enjoyable experience.

This driver is not too hard, so it’s easy to hit comfortably.

Thanks to this driver, I had a very enjoyable test session.

I plan to recommend it to my friends immediately.
