Today, I tested this golf club in a full on-course review.

The test club was the BETTINARDI HLX 6.0 Forged Wedge Graphite PVD, 56° loft.

The shaft is the KBS HI-REV 2.0 WEDGE.

Specifications: 56° loft, 35.25 inches in length, stiff flex, 125g shaft weight, D2.8 swing weight, and a total club weight of 465.8g.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to test a Bettinardi wedge.

I had previously reviewed the TOUR STOCK WEDGE BW-01, which impressed me so much that I had been eager to try this new HLX 6.0 release.

While classic chrome finishes are always appealing, this darker Graphite PVD finish adds another layer of sophistication.

This wedge has a very traditional profile.

Its clean, timeless design really drew me in before I even hit a shot.

As a wedge enthusiast, I always start by “enjoying the club with my eyes” before swinging it. For me, appreciating the shape, lines, and finish is part of the experience. This wedge immediately lifted my expectations.

Although you can see some design milling, it’s essentially a standard flat-back wedge.

Cavity-back wedges are increasingly popular, but I’ve always had an affinity for these more orthodox designs—they just feel more natural and familiar.

The topline thickness is very much standard.

I wondered what exactly “HLX 6.0” signifies.

The Bettinardi logo engraved near the toe looks sharp, and the subtle honeycomb pattern on the back adds character. This honeycomb motif is a signature Bettinardi design element often seen in their putters as well.

The all-black finish looks stunning and feels premium.

The matte black adds a touch of luxury while minimizing glare.

The back face has a standard design, nothing overly unconventional.

The sole width is standard, though compared to many modern sand wedges, it feels slightly narrower.

This may make it less forgiving for players who struggle out of bunkers.

The sole features precise CNC milling.

This detail is becoming more common across modern wedges, and if Bettinardi included it, it surely serves a purpose. That said, wedges endure heavy sole wear, so over time this milling might gradually wear down.

The sole is relatively flat with a rounded contour, and the bounce is well-pronounced.

The leading edge is slightly rounded, but not aggressively ground down.

Some modern wedges feature heavily relieved edges, but this one retains a more classic shaping.

The hosel has a reassuring length, stretching cleanly into the head.

The straight, seamless transition gives it a refined look.

“BETTINARDI FORGED” is engraved on the hosel, giving the club an exclusive feel.

The grip, like Bettinardi’s irons, features the BETTINARDI logo and is the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360.

Though difficult to capture in photos, the face has ultra-fine milling patterns.

Instead of parallel lines, the milling arcs in circular patterns, enhancing spin consistency.

At address, the wedge presents a beautiful, classic look that instantly won me over.

Frankly, it’s “top-class” in appearance—compact, clean, and reminiscent of vintage Japanese wedges I admired years ago. It exudes the Bettinardi aesthetic while retaining a sense of familiarity and tradition.

I began the performance testing.

The feel at impact is exceptionally soft.

From the very first shot, the feedback was smooth and buttery, without any harsh vibration. The ball stays on the face just long enough to create a sense of control.

The spin performance is excellent.

On a practice green with steep slopes, the ball checked up beautifully. The wedge generates enough spin to control shots, but not excessively, making it practical for real course play.

The wedge launches the ball easily with predictable trajectory.

Its high center of gravity helps produce consistent spin and shot-stopping power.

In terms of forgiveness, as a flat-back wedge it doesn’t offer as much leeway as cavity-back models, but it’s highly predictable, keeping the ball on line with ease.

The workability is excellent.

I like to manipulate the face open and closed, and this wedge allows that freely without bounce interference. It made finesse shots, including delicate slow-rolling chips, effortless.

The distance control was spot on.

The solid shaft and heavier head weight let me rely on gravity for consistent tempo, simply lifting and dropping the club to generate reliable yardages.

In the bunker, it performed very well.

The bounce engaged effectively, skimming through the sand and propelling the ball out with control. Different shot types produced distinct feedback, making it fun to practice.

Time flew by while testing—it was a thoroughly enjoyable session.

The chrome version of this wedge must be impressive as well, but I personally prefer this Graphite PVD black finish.

The black color has a slimming effect, making the head appear more compact, while also giving it a calm, confident presence.

This wedge lets you first enjoy it visually, then enjoy it through ball-striking—a truly luxurious experience.

I also photographed it under direct sunlight to check glare and face reflections.

Even pointed directly at the sun, the matte black face produced no glare—making this wedge truly all-weather ready.

Its traditional shape should pair beautifully with Bettinardi putters as well.

Bettinardi putters are famously displayed in locked glass cases due to their premium nature, so being able to test this wedge felt like a privilege.

Overall, this wedge competes strongly with today’s top models from other brands—it’s every bit as refined and performance-driven.
